Paramore CD Review
The first time I heard of Paramore, I thought to myself “Wow, this band is amazing.” After listening to their debut album entitled All We Know Is Falling, released by independent record label, Fueled By Ramen (Fall Out Boy, Panic! Front-woman, Hayley Williams (17), makes a statement and demands to be heard with emotional lyrics and dynamic vocals. Heavy and melodic power-punk instrumentals are provided by lead guitarist, Josh Farro (18), rhythm guitarist Hunter Lamb (20),...

Supernova’s CMW Showcase at Clintons
What happens when you put together 6 awesome bands on one bill in a little place called Clintons for a Canadian Music Week Showcase? You get a night of lots of headbanging, rocking to great tunes and an opportunity to enjoy some pretty cool upcoming young talent! Still Life Still jump started the night with their energetic set colored with cool percussion work and a violin. SLS are a refreshing change from the all-male, 2 guitar assault we’re used to and should be commended for it. Everyone in the room, from fans to Clinton’s staff, were impressed. Then Glen Morrow Mews came on rocking the stage with fury. They have so much energy that...

Say Hello To CONTRAST
Contrast is a five-piece female led rock band that has been catching the eyes of many. Although the band only formed this past year, each member has a handful of musical experiences under their belt. Rebecca Leeann has been writing songs and singing since the age of 12 and has even opened up for great Canadian acts such as Trooper, Lighthouse and Paul James, singing her own original tunes. However, it wasn't until she met guitarist Andrew Churchward that the sound of CONTRAST began to evolve. Together they wrote and performed songs together as an acoustic duo shortly after they met, but the two wanted to expand on their music and bring it...

Lost Souls Division
Having grown tired of band after band of watered-down “nu-metal”, Lost Souls Division brings a form of honest, pure music that only now seems to be re-emerging from the Seattle sound of the early 90’s and the heyday of Metal in the early 80s. Beat-and-riff-driven hard rock/heavy metal with true to life lyrics, and an emphasis on solid, creative musicianship. Their debut album, Ghosts of Our Time (Vitriol Records, 2005) features 12 solid tracks which chronicles the lives of random people, soldiers, heroes, media hounds, addicts, only to reach one inevitable conclusion. With an unfortunate trend in music where a lot of bands have little...
