the front man Jarrod Talbot started the group named Pratice two and a half years ago with present day bassist and rhythm guitar, Terry Theriot and Matt Brannon. After agreeing on the terms that they wanted their sound to be well rounded and unique they found drummer James Simon and lead guitar, Doug Asher. Though creative music was coming from the band, they were having problems with keeping a place to play and some dedication issues. All in all they lost Asher and Simon for personal reasons and were left as a three piece again. Then, to Talbot and Theriot's surprise Matt Brannon was going off to Minnesota to work and did not know when he would be coming back. It seemed as if the band was going down the toilet and our music would be lost forever. Then, one august afternoon nine months later, Jarrod Talbot gets a call from Matt Brannon saying that he is back in town and wanted to get it back together. Talbot, Theriot, and Brannon then met up and decided on the direction they wanted to take the new band and the qualifications that each new member should meet. They then came across percussionist, Scott Thibodeaux. Scotty was a Godsend. He had the animosity and determination that we needed from the new drummer.(It didn't hurt that he played a mean double pedal either!) He picked up on the already written music and enhanced it with his own twists. They now needed to find a lead guitar. After searching long and hard we found the diamond in the rough, Dan miller. Dan came to the audition with the confidence that none of the other guitar players had come with. He strapped on his Carvin and showed them what he could do. He was instantly loved by the others in the group. So now they were a full band that needed to write a few more songs, do some polishing and COME UP WITH A NAME. They tossed tons of names around but none fit. Then Jarrod said "we need something that describes us." Which Matt answered " something that has to do with the fact that we aren't letting all of these stupid problems plague us anymore." Then Dan said " How about Flood Gate?" From that day forth they were Flood Gate. Bringing you the thumping bass from "Dozer" Theriot, the amazing licks from "Rodeo" Brannon, the impecable leads of "Seattle" miller, the thundering speed from "Tito" Thibodeaux, and the powerful vocals of "Chops" Talbot. The powerful message of Flood Gate will never die.
