The name 'Free City Collective' is taken from a group of counter-culture activists based out of San Francisco in the 1960s. A make shift ensemble of actors, poets, writers, artists and musicians. This was inspired by the characteristics, skills and passions of the band members of Free City Collective.
The band have been together for around five to six years and are built from the leadership and vocal excitement of lead singer Ben Rowley. Inspired by classic rock rifts and the natural British Columbian countryside he is flanked by Derek Rohde, Theo Milloy and Sam Romero. Their expertise as musicians, joy as artists and commitment to practice see them create enthusiastic and spellbinding connections in the breakdowns. The percussion and timing of June Choi on drums keeps the beat of the group and has been a welcome addition to the band.
