Describe a show, or a moment at a show you'll never forget.
I'll never forget seeing Reel Big Fish at the Croatian Cultural Centre - the raw energy those guys can put out is amazing. As for being up on stage, every time is amazing, right on down to playing an improv. acoustic set at a house party that had to be toned down due to previous noise complaints, opening in front of complete strangers for our first gig in our new lineup, and getting people coming up to Ed and I after the show complimenting us on our vocal harmony. Impressing my girlfriend for the first time on stage also helps. :)
What’s the first concert you went to?
OzzFest '99 at UBC Thunderbird Stadium
What was the first CD you bought?
Either Kris Kross or Billy Ray Cyrus, I can't remember. Yeeeeah.
How many shows have you attended?
Watching: 10+ Performing: 7 or 8 and climbing!
What are your favorite genres?
Metal (both old Heavy Metal and newer Thrash), Alt-Rock and Alt-Metal, Prog Rock/Metal, Punk, Emo, Ska

KITHOP'S BIOGRAPHY
Hi, I'm Gary Carter, and I'm the bass player and backing vocalist for Cry of Silence.  Ed, Garth, Young and I love to play and are eager to please - give us a listen!

I've previously played in Freezing Cheese Disease with Young and Ryan Takahashi (including two shows at UBCJA's Bandmania), and before that bei6 and 7% Milk (miscellaenous Battles of the Bands and other small shows), stretching all the way back to my freshman year in High School, when my dad and brother bought me my first (and current/only) bass.

You can also check out our Myspace page for more info including some more tracks Ed recorded for us, as well as a quick demo I've recorded myself called 'Burning Nation'.  We're all busy writing new material and getting into gigs.  Let us know what you think. :)

Gear:
I play my trusty old black '98/'99 Yamaha RBX260 with heavy Elixir nanoweb strings through a Fender BXR-25 combo (that I desperately need to upgrade, but that's what rentals are for!) and occasionally add in distortion and wah effects courtesy of my Ibanez SM7 Smashbox (dist) and WD7 Weeping Demon (wah) pedals.

I also own a Magenta Crush early 2000's Ibanez RG-7 guitar with Floyd Rose tremolo that I use for recording guitar tracks on my own demos along with aforementioned pedals.

Other pedals used from time to time include an OC-2 double Octave pedal and a BOSS Bass Equalizer.

Influences:
I have a lot of different influences from old-school thrash (Metallica, Megadeth), metal/hard rock (Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin), alt-rock (Alice In Chains, Nirvana, Pearl Jam), newer metal (Tool/A Perfect Circle) to newer punk (Blink 182, Green Day, Sum 41) and emo (Sunny Day Real Estate, Something Corporate, Brand New).  I enjoy a bit of ska, classical, jazz or acoustic stuff from time to time, and really only draw the line at country and rap. :)
