It's never too late... Koreen has recently begun to launch her music career again as an artist and songwriter. Recently, Koreen was awarded a $10,000 grant from RAWLCO Radio towards her first CD, Turning Point, just out in June 2011. Her style is pop-easy listening/adult contemporary, retro 70s and 80s easy rock, country-pop and jazz-pop. Her new upbeat pop/80s style song "Freeze Time" was just released November 2012!
Koreen Perry was born and raised in Edmonton most of her life. She lived in the Calgary area for ten years and even a six-month stay in Australia where her career as a live TV captioner took her. She knew at an early age she was a performer and has been an actress for theatre and film since she was a teenager. She was also in a group called Edmonton Musical Theatre for four years where she learned she enjoyed singing as well….adding to a hint much earlier in her life of songwriting. She took voice, acting and dance lessons and raised a family. Then the realisation that this performing bug wouldn’t ever leave her, she took the bull by its horns, moved back to Edmonton and began training again with Cooper Studios and performing at many festivals and events before deciding to give songwriting another shot.
Who would have thought a mother of two, in her 40s, would decide now was the time to make a CD? That's what Koreen did, after getting the encouragement of a grant from RAWLCO Radio of Up 99.3 in Edmonton, Alberta, to produce the CD. Koreen sings retro style songs, from the 70s and 80s, easy rock/pop style, as well as jazz pop and country pop.
“Turning Point” was released in June of 2011 to great reviews... "Her lead single with the same title came about at a time in Koreen’s life where she decided it was time to follow her dreams. The immediate response in hearing this song was the sweetness in her voice. Her vocals are soft, yet powerful. The CD “Turning Point” carries the same theme with songs full of great storylines, arrangements and delivery. Koreen's CD includes originals written and cowritten by herself along with retro cover songs of the 70s and 80s. The album was co-produced by Rob Hewes.
Koreen's new single "Freeze Time" is due out November 14, 2012, on iTunes and other digital stores... Koreen's singer/songwriter pop 80s style tune is an upbeat song about "freezing" time when things are just right!
