Last Plague exploded onto the Vancouver hardcore scene in the summer of 2006, when vocalist Heath Fenton called upon the mad genius guitar skills Tim McGuinness (ex-All State Champion) and the precise jazz-metal drumming of Dave Marrow to start the project. Eventually, the line-up was solidified with the addition of guitarist Brett Roothless (Life Against Death) and bassist Steven Huston and the band got to work writing their independently-released self-titled EP.
These self-proclaimed “metalheads playing rock n’ roll in a hardcore band” continued turning heads in the Vancouver music scene and in 2009, hit the studio to record their 11 song full-length debut Sex and Murder at The Hive Creative Labs with renowned producer Jesse Gander (3 Inches of Blood, Bison B.C). Last Plague hit the road during the summer of 2009, supporting Vancouver punk legends SNFU on their cross-Canada tour.
Loved by fans and industry elitists alike, Last Plague has been called everything from “the real deal” to “the new hope for metal” and has been said to have “the potential to become the bastard child of Botch and Gallows”. Merging Fenton’s Sabbath-esque sensibilities and gut-wrenching shriek, McGuinness and Roothless’ organized chaos guitar work and Huston and Marrow’s frighteningly solid rhythms, Last Plague lives and breathes by their ominous motto: Research and Destroy.
