This seeds thing has bin a farce from the start. I've known a lot of guys that have bin in "winning" bands and most of them had connections in the Industry whether it be certain production companies or They have already got record deals. Hey I'm not saying they weren't good but where is the line of "Independent". By the way this is the fucking music industry there are no lube or reach arounds. So if your not prepared to either sell your grandmother or just do it for the love of music Quit now and get a full time job with a good pension cause your not cut out for it! It would be nice if radio stations felt that it was their responsibility to nurture the local music scene. It would be even nicer if everyone knew how awesome it is to go to a random bar and discover an amazing band you've never heard of before. I have some friends that work in nightclub promotion and it's just a fact: in this town, people want canned music. But I know we can fix it man. If Music Waste can still exist, then there must be at least a few people out there who still know what's up. Although I think epos might not be "indie" enough for Music Waste, or not weird enough lol. But I'm sure you get my point. Gotta put the positive vibes out there, will the change to occur... Your complimentary words are much appreciated sir. No matter how stoked you are for epos live, you can't possibly be as fired up as we are. Playing a show and ripping people's faces off is the greatest feeling in the world and we can't wait either. I'm getting riled up just thinking about it. XD

Well said brother. You know the state of the union. I know it is great for networking and who wouldn't want the chance to work with Bob Ezrin. I'm just sick and tired of this city pissing in our mouths and telling us it's Jag. I haven't heard anything about ANY radio station doing anything to help the VENUES that struggle to keep independent BANDS playing. And yes I know it isn't their responsibility but how about a plug for some of these small venues and the bands playing there once in a while. But that would be free advertising and that just won't do.
But hey that's not even the BIG problem. The fact is people don't go to the shows, they don't care. The yuppy hollow souled vancouverites would rather go see that she-male Lady Gaga or get some E and go listen to the same bass thump at every nightclub in town and you know why because they know what they are going to get. They won't be disappointed or pleasantly surprised. It's safe.
I could go on for hours about the seemingly infinite problems with the music scene ,but I won't.

Epos you guys have a great sound and are one of my favotite bands in this thing. Top 3 for sure.

We just want to meet Bob Ezrin lol. I can't really disagree with you, but I look at this contest as an opportunity to network with other bands and put the name out there. In fact, I don't even look at it as a contest. There's tons of bands on here from all kinds of genres that are really really good! We can't all win. And the bands that are most likely to win are the ones that have built up steady momentum through touring and writing, basically working hard year-round only on music. That's what we all should be doing. Do that and you don't need a radio contest to succeed. Unfortunately, life tends to get in the way and that's how it is.
But the enemy isn't corus radio or the fox. What drags us down is the fact that most clubs and bars have no interest in original live music, and established places like the Cobalt and the Pic (just off the top of my head) shut down. The Cobalt is a particularly sad loss because now our brothers and sisters in metal and punk bands have an even harder time finding an interested ear.
This city seems to fear live music and it's wrong. There's a reason other cities have better music scenes than us, and it's because not enough clubs, bars and promoters have the balls to take a chance on an original band or a particular genre.
We can't expect this to change on its own, but if more of us succeed by doing it ourselves it'll help. I'll get off my soapbox now lol.

Very very true, but as DanZ says, this is a great oppourtunity for bands to reach fans/bands they might otherwise never have contact with.
