Metallogy:
Forging a Band.
"I guess you could say it was a typical Friday afternoon; the school was busy with activity, people running to and fro their classes and lockers. However, one group of students sat in the halls, strumming guitars, singing and warming up for the things to come. People would occasionally venture by and stare at them strangely and when asked 'what are you guys doing?' the reply was always 'getting ready to rock your world.'"
Michael Tai "Jackson"
"I've known Jackson since we were in elementary school. Back then we hadn't formed the band, but his musical potential was beyond incredible. Back then, he was one of the best pianists I've known in my time, but it was the day that he picked up his guitar that the spark actually turned into a flame."
Born May 12, 1991 in, what at the time was, the small community of Markham in Ontario, Canada, Michael Tai was raised in an artistic environment, beginning musical training as a pianist at the young age of four. Wielding the mighty axe for the first time in 2005, his influences for doing so have been credited to bands Nightwish and Rammstein. Originally taking lessons, Jackson became a self-taught guitarist after two months. Within a year's time, he had moved on to more advanced songs, crediting his major first achievement to the song "Canon Rock", which taught him the essential skills of the guitar.
One of the co-founders of Metallogy, the band was created in April of 2007 under four original members. Proving himself an invaluable asset of the band, Jackson is continually involved in the creative writing process of Metallogy's songs and has a significant place in the band.
Major influences include Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert, John Petrucci and Joe Satriani.
At age 16, Michael has become a youthful Yngwie, often captivating onlookers with random mindand gutbusting guitar solos. A Master of his instrument, he has been tested time and time again as the group's foremost musically experienced member, as is seen by his composition with band drummer, Johnathan Lui in the song "Ascension".
Jason Pang "JP"
"Whenever an idea came up, JP and I would always be the first ones to explore it, from stage gimmicks all the way to song titles. He's one of the most easy-going guys in the band and certainly one of the easiest to consult with. He's always had this robust belief in our music. I've always liked that about him."
Jason Pang, at age 16 is a talented musician and a very skilled guitarist. On Harmony guitar, Jason was introduced into the band when his ability to play was discovered by his bandmates.
A heavy advocate of the band's genre, JP has been frequently noted as one of the group's largest social icons and reffered to as the band's consultant at times.
Self taught, JP was originally an acoustic guitarist since he was 11 and heavily influenced by band drummer Johnathan into developing an ear for metal music. JP was integrated into the band in early May of '07 and is today, a valued member and extremely versitile in his music styles. He claims for his music influences to derive from one Yoshiki Fukuyama, a voice actor and guitarist for a local anime series.
As a respected member of the band, Jason has had a major outcome on the band's image as a whole, as well, brought much of his unique skillset to the group.
Matt Ramlogan
"...And who could forget this character we call Mr. Powerchords. I've always seen some sort of perverse skill he possesses. It's not only the skill to wield his weapon of choice, but his skill of bringing life to the band. I can admit it, without Matt, we'd be the next Green Day: Dull, Emo and definitely full of 'suckage'."
With much musical experience, Matt is able to create unique riffs that gives audiences a new view on rock and metal. Heavily influenced by Lamb of God and Children of Bodom, Matthew's abilities to play the guitar has skyrocketed since he has started in April of 2007. At the age of 16, Matt's talents as a guitarists has surprisingly led to much praise from his peers and fellow students.
Matt is self taught guitarist, learning many of his skills online or from books, however, that does not make him any less valuable to the band.
Respected as a musical artist and as a bandmate, Matt is heavily involved in much of the band's dealings and is always enthusiatic and eager when it comes to live performances.
Zachary Alexander "Ballzac"
"I remember the first time I met Zac was when we were all in sixth grade. Back then, I don't think he played the piano, but then again, he's only been playing for a few years. In either case, he's kickass... but now he's a bassist. Now he's just gay."
All jokes aside, Zac is an amazing keyboarder. With music lessons at the age of 13, Zac has increased his abilities significantly and by the time he was 15, went into the field of being self-taught, as he has since learned even more without limitation. Zac is unique in the way that, although not having as much time on the piano as frontman, Michael Tai, he can create many ideas in which he applies to the band, and from those ideas, often songs are written.
Just recently he has began to learn how to play the Bass Guitar, and will prove to be more than just a valuable member of Metallogy.
Zac is always involved with the band's music-writing processes and contributes greatly to song ideas.
The second of three co-founders of the band, Zac has been a dedicated member of the band since its forging in 2007, and has been seen as one of the keys to unlocking the band's full potential as an A-Grade metal band. Contributing to the idea of forming Metallogy in 2006, Zac has since been noted as a figure of significant standing within the band, as the majority of the songs written by the group cannot be rehearsed or performed without its keyboarder mastermind.
Jonn Lui "Mick"
"I've always seen something in him. It's not the way he plays, but the way he learns and puts things together. Don't get me wrong, he's a great drummer, definitely one of the top in his area, but there's always room to improve."
Born in York, Ontario in 1991, Jonn grew up in the small community of Markham playing the piano at the age of seven until he quit in 2004 to pursue his dream of becoming a drummer.
Originally forming the band with friend, Michael Tai in 2006, Johnathan Lui's versitility in musical styles has enabled him to play genres from heavy metal to classical. With previous experience in a marching band drumline, Jonn recieved his own set in May of 2007, however, gradually with daily practice, he picked up on the many tricks of drummers and within the time period of three months, has increased his knowledge and drummings skills immensely, even performing with the band Watcher's Eye as a guest drummer in August of 2007 and with Pendulum in December of the same year.
The third of three founding members of Metallogy, he was seen as the band's frontman and manager since the band had been started in April of '07. Although originally denying the idea, he later on accepted the position and worked to bring the band to public performances which would later prove invaluable to their personal experiences.
Along with Michael, he is one of the most involved characters in Metallogy's creative writing processes.
Much of his success is credited to known drummers such as Chris Adler, Neil Peart and Mike Portnoy, as well as friends Kevin Chan and the late Alfred Wong.
Jonn is also featured in two other side bands including Iced Earth cover band The Watcher's Eye, as well as Markham Jazz-Rock band Pendulum. He was also a member of the 351st RCAC Squadron in Markham as the lead snare drummer until his resignation in January of 2008. He was a member for four years.
"Never in my life, have I met anyone who has exceeded him in his ability to organize, present and represent metal music."
The newest addition to Metallogy, who joined in June of 2008, as the vocalist and frontman of the band, Michael D'Ambrosio is a proud and ambitious addition to the group.
An old time friend of drummer and manager Johnathan Lui, Michael began to foster his talent for music while in local metal band from Father Michael McGivney Catholic High School, Absence of Light. Brother band, Absence of Light, featuring members Wayne Alphonso, Vincent Lee, Kevin Dungca, Michael D'Ambrosio and Louie Miranda were eager to lend their support and Michael soon agreed to join Metallogy as their vocalist / frontman. With heavy influences from Lamb of God's Randy Blythe, Michael D'Ambrosio's ability to convey metal vocals through screams is an ability unrivaled by modern singers, blasting forth aggressive and loud attacking tones which captures the essence of the genre.
Though at a young age, Michael has nearly mastered this talent and has joined Metallogy to explore further potential for vocal development.
