Bethany Cosentino doesn't want to be known as that stoned cat-lady anymore.
Cosentino and Bobb Bruno of Best Coast have been hard at work recording their follow-up to their well-received debut album, Crazy For You. Their sophomore LP is being produced by Jon Brion, who's worked with everyone from Fiona Apple to Kanye West, and scored films like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and I ? Huckabees. Cosentino said, "For this album, I was inspired by Loretta Lynn, Dusty Springfield, Dolly Parton, Stevie Nicks. I wanted people to be like, ‘Damn, this girl can sing.’” And in an interview with Pitchfork, she explained that "Crazy for You was written in a very insecure, weird, 22-year old phase in my life...Most of the songs on this record are more about self-discovery and figuring out who I am."
