Moonface - “Teary Eyes and Bloody Lips”
The prolific and lyrically dense Spencer Krug of Wolf Parade and Sunset Rubdown fame is putting those adjectives to work on his newest moniker Moonface, which previously only consisted of “marimba and shit-drums.” Expanding sonically and in collaboration with Finnish band Siinai, the first song “Teary Eyes and Bloody Lips” features cascading guitars and keyboards, Krug’s winding words, and a ton of catharsis. The appropriately tiled “With Siinai: Heartbreaking Bravery” is set to release April 17th.

Spanish Prisoners - “Downtown Chicagoland”
On desolate 4AM subway rides home after working all night at an exclusive New York Club, Leo Maymind would begin to piece together ideas for songs that would eventually form the basis for Gold Fools, their debut album released last year. We're not sure if he's still at that job, but his band Spanish Prisoners's new single “Downtown Chicagoland” provides fans of the first effort with more of the same sedate and complex pop. Plus, it sounds like that song from “The Beach”.
Dana Buoy - “Call To Be”
Akron/Family drummer Dana Buoy (real name Dana Janssen) is prepping to release his debut LP Summer Bodies, and “Call To Be” is the electropop and Afrobeat-tinged first single. It was partially recorded in Thailand during Hurricane Irene, so perhaps the album will have a dope sample of some howling wind or something. I'm sorry. It's late.
