Robb Coxford has been a songwriter for the last 12 years. Throughout these years his style has developed and changed, incorporating many different genres and moods. His influences include punk, folk, pop, indie and rock but he specializes in hooky melodies and driving choruses.
Robb started his career in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan as a songwriter and singer for local pop punk band The Richard Marshal Division. In 2004 they released their full-length album “Where’s The Butter?” The album was an immediate favorite amongst the local punk community. Members of the band moved on in different directions as Robb moved out west to Vancouver, British Columbia. It was here he reacquainted with long time friend Rob Palacol to start the band Dead End Job. Dead End Job emerged as a power pop acoustic duo and later teamed up with Ricardo Viana, the drummer they had long been waiting for. Dead End Job shot into the Vancouver music scene in 2006 with a 6 song EP titled “I’m Not Selling Out, I’m Buying In” but later broke up due to artistic differences. At this point Robb started working on his solo career.
In 2007 he recorded an acoustic album called “Truth Tells All”. Since then he has been writing and recording his first electric solo album “Ready for the Radio”, which also includes a full acoustic version. The album features the skills of many of Robb’s friends including Ricardo Viana on drums, Mike Paprocki on bass and Rob Palacol singing background vocals. “Ready for the Radio” expresses what Robb’s songwriting has amounted to, his influences, and the shaping of his style. One of the key aspects of this style is to bring across a message or catch phrase that everyone can relate to. Each song is filled with inspiration, feeling, and a true story that has impacted his life. The album is set to release in the summer of 2010.
