Started in 2005, Tachycardia has gone through many names to find the one that fits, and finally settled on “Tachycardia” - a medical term meaning an increased heart rate. Tachycardia has come a long way in the short time they have been a band. Starting with the name “The_Bricks,” the band, then made up of Hunter Tolbert, Paul Demer, Miles DeBruin, and Kenny Perry (and manager Joseph Beckham) began practicing in a room with 15-watt amplifiers, no drummer, and no microphone. They gained a drummer, Austin Stearns, and lost the bassist, but continued on with Paul and Miles switching off bass parts. As The_Bricks, the band won the school talent show after long hours of practicing. They then recorded 3 covers at a local recording studio, thanks to a Christmas gift of studio time from Hunter’s dad. Realizing that they wanted to write their own music, Hunter and Paul started to write songs. By this time, Tachycardia had 50-watt amps, a PA and a keyboard. After playing a full set at a friend’s party, Tachycardia was determined to write enough songs to make an EP. Tachycardia continued practicing and played their originals live for the first time at two different gigs in October 2007. Everyone loved them. Tachycardia added a keyboardist, Parker Lawson, who makes the band better by adding a different and fuller sound. Tachycardia recorded 5 originals (at Paul’s and Hunter’s houses) and put out their first self-titled EP. Tachycardia started picking up gigs and playing in Battles of the Bands, including a Dad’s Day Picnic at Butler Elementary, The Door in Fort Worth, DreamWorld and Keller Main Street Festival. Tachycardia, now made up of Hunter, Paul, Miles, Austin and Parker, is currently working on a new full-length album and is excited about the future.
