The Revival was started back near the end of 2008. Their mission was simple: to create new music that was full of creativity, emotion and soul. To make music that takes the band and the audience on a spiritual journey that goes far beyond the music being made. The sound of this band consists of Eric Clefstad’s blistering bluesy lead guitar, Alex Danyliuk’s groovy drum beats, Jay Jensen’s smooth bass lines, and Erik Lassen’s rhythm guitar and voice bringing character to the music. Looking up to great bands such as Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Blind Melon, The Cat Empire, Sublime, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and many others, The Revival began putting together music that combined many influences and moods. They combined their love of blues, funk, rock, folk, reggae, psychedelic, and other genres into a solid sound. Once this sound was completed they unleashed it to the world, playing venues around Winnipeg such as The Park Theatre and eventually the new West End Cultural Center. In January 2010, they recorded 3 tracks using recording time that had been won from a series of Battle of the Bands. Shortly after, Erik Lassen announced that he would be leaving the band to pursue other interests. After a short period of “hibernation” a new singer was found by Erik. Kevin Hogg, a former folk fest young performer stepped in and brought a whole new level of energy into the band with his insane talent for singing. They had finally found the proper voice that could lead their vision of musical unity. The Revival has been hard at work ever since and is now eagerly waiting to record new tracks with Kevin, and to unleash their music to anyone who is ready to go on a musical journey!
