Young, brilliant, and unique; The Shrugs are amongst Canada’s most promising indie-rock acts. Caitlin Connelly (Vocals), Brandon Johnas (Guitars) and Stephanie Cole (Bass) compose emotionally charged songs inspired by hyperactive imaginations and a passion for creativity. While their music reflects influences of Metric, Mother Mother, and Arcade Fire, the band has etched its own distinct mark on their genre.
The Shrugs hit the studio in the late fall of 2011 to team up with critically acclaimed Producer/Engineer, Jeff Dawson (Daniel Powter, Kelly Rowland, State Of Shock). The resulting EP (‘Til The World Ends) is an exceptional showcase of the band’s talents, bringing to light a polished four-song product that truly highlights their unparalleled sound. They re-visited Dawson in the winter of 2012 to record two new tracks for their newest EP “Into The Wild”. These new songs further demonstrate the bands artistic integrity, launching them into 2013 with undoubted success.
Hard work ethic coupled with a strong sense of community inspires The Shrugs to make regular charitable contributions while connecting with their fans on the closest personal level. Exhibiting a strong level of maturity has fueled fan allure, whilst capturing the attention of a number of industry executives, and charting on DMDS at #10 on the Top 10 Most Active Indies Chart in August 2012.
With a series of professional and articulate music videos, a Cross Canada 2012 Tour, a Western Canadian Tour in 2013, along with their recent highly successful EP Release / Industry Showcase and their participation in the 2012 CFOX Seeds Competition as a Top 20 band, continued successes are on the horizon in the coming years for The Shrugs.
