Adarsh Fernando, an Indian-Canadian-Australian singer-songwriter, lives by one goal -- never spend tomorrow regretting what could have been done today. This attitude dictates almost everything he does.
A graduated and employed Mechanical Engineer, a screenwriter earning distinction in both the Queens International and Beverly Hills Film Festivals for his Radiohead-inspired musical, a violinist, guitarist, bassist, drummer, producer, audio engineer, and graphic designer -- Adarsh wastes no time in discovering what he is fully capable of.
The Velvet Chameleon (TVC) is by far his greatest undertaking; combining inspirations, such as Radiohead and The Black Keys, and all his talent and hard work into one unified project. The results speak for themselves.
In the spring of 2011, Adarsh set out to transform his wealth of original material into four individually unique and self-produced EP’s. With each EP sharing themes with its respective season, TVC is on the cusp of releasing its fourth and final EP.
The “Dandruff” EP, recorded in fall 2011, brought the music project its highest level of success. Fully recorded, mixed, and mastered by Adarsh, TVC proved what could be accomplished relying purely on hard work and talent. The EP garnered attention and praise from highly acclaimed music blogs such as EARMILK, reached #1 in Reddit’s Music community, reached #1 of all Bandcamp “Canadian”-tagged releases, and top 5 of all “Progressive”, “Acoustic”, and “Indie-Rock”-tagged releases, reaching thousands of downloads and international fans in its debut weekend.
In achieving his ambitions, relationships Adarsh creates with fellow BC artists has been his saving grace. By working and performing with, learning from, and inspiring artists such as Blanket Barricade, Kill Matilda, The Film Industry, and students from Nimbus S.o.R.A, each subsequent EP release has brought giant leaps in quality and musicianship. Expect this trend to continue.
