THIRD PLACE

Based in Quebec's Lanaudière region, Third Place is a youthful, high-octane punk-rock band. With influences ranging from Blink-182 and Simple Plan to Avenged Sevenfold, the group is noted for its distinct, gutsy sound. Third Place burst onto the Montreal music scene in 2005, and began turning heads in February, 2006 as part of the International Emergenza competition, held at Cabaret Spectacles. Their positive reception easily got them past the 1st round. In April 2006, a memorable performance led to a win in the quarter-finals of the competition, at Montreal's Café Campus. Two months later, during the semi-finals, Third Place gave a show-stopping performance that earned them a set in the Emergenza Grand Finale, held at the legendary Medley. That night the quartet celebrated its first anniversary, finishing 8th among the 250 other acts in the competition! Encouraged by their growing fan-base, Third Place would move on to win the second annual Rawdon Rock Contest, for the second time, in February, 2008. Being declared favourite band by a voting audience made the victory especially gratifying. Third Place 's success on the competition circuit lies in their trademark stage presence. The band gives a kick-ass performance everywhere it goes. Case in point: the Festival de Beloeil, where 5000 festival goers got to see what the buzz is all about. The Sports Compact Performance Auto Show, held at Montreal's Olympic stadium in October 2008, was the next stop. Third Place performed in front of thousands of audience members alongside the biggest names in Québécois hip-hop, such as Sans Pression and L’Assemblée. Their performance earned them an invitation to play at the 2008 edition of the Montreal DJ Awards, at the renowned Bains Mathieu. As always, the boys held their own. The band’s energetic performances are now in demand among bar and music hall owners across the province. Be it Laval's Moomba Super Club, Repentigny's Bar la Ripaille, Chateauguay's Colonel Salaberry, or Crescent Street's TNT Concept Rock Bar, everyone has sought a taste of Third Place. The band has achieved an enviable status in Montreal's music community. Their infectious melodies, powerful rhythms, endearing sincerity and unique charisma have solidified Third Place’s claim on the title of Punk-rock’s next great band. The best is yet to come for the emerging rockers. Their first official album is slated for 2009. Also on the menu is a cross-country tour whereupon the boys will share their passion for their craft with music lovers from coast to coast. Europe is in the cross-hairs for 2010...Stay tuned!
