"It is rare that on first listening to a band that you find yourself humming the tunes the rest of the day, but that is what I found after listening to WALK THE MOON. With a great sounding lead vocalist, captivating melodies, well crafted songs with lyrical depth and arrangements reminiscent of the great XTC, they will surely go far!"

The moment these four Ohio college boys walked into the studio of producer Erwin Musper (David Bowie, Elton John, Van Halen), an important relationship was forged. "I honestly thought that superb songwriting was a thing of the past," Musper remarked. "These guys proved me wrong." Six months and thirteen tracks later, the band had come to a crossroads: a slimmer lineup, an evolving sound, a new name.
The boys had been playing together since summer 2006, but in January 2008 WALK THE MOON was born anew, with a renewed sense of self and a reawakened hunger for the future. Since honing their powerpop, retro-rock, raw-spirit sound with Holland native Musper, W/M has released The Anthem EP, a product of the band’s vital sessions with Musper and a flash of what is soon to come. On it, string quartet arrangements by frontman and keyboardist Nicholas Petricca electrify his hook-driven songwriting and the band’s dynamic realizations, evoking ELO, Maroon 5, and something else entirely their own.
Meanwhile, W/M has gathered attention from FOX 19 News Cincinnati, CityBeat Magazine, and now CITY SHOWCASE – SPOTLIGHT LONDON, who in June 2008 hand-picked WALK THE MOON, among all other North American Sonicbids applicants, to cross the ocean and play in the UK (their European debut). Though they may be young, W/M is candidly ambitious. Musper duly warns the competition: “Message to the other bands out there: you’re ten steps behind, and it will be really hard to catch up.”

"...With the string arrangements in their music, [Walk the Moon] can be placed in the same category as bands like Jethro Tull, Wizzard, Electric Light Orchestra... With that combination, you could easily consider Walk The Moon both modern and retro at the same time. And that’s what makes the band’s sound so fresh."
